Rocky Mountain Whippet Association of Alberta is recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club. We are Whippet enthusiasts who enjoy the sport of lure coursing which involves the skill of hunting by sight.
Lure coursing
This is a sport which utilizes a whippets sight as a main skill in the hunt.  White plastic bags are used as "the bunny" which leads to the chase. A well designed course is put together by a lure operator with the safety of the dogs first and foremost. The whippets are judged on speed, agility, enthusiasm, endurance and follow.

The Whippet - how versatile is it
The traditional role of the hunter / chaser has expanded to many other dog sports. The whippet had been very competitive in Conformation, the agility ring, rally obedience and obedience, dock diving, fly ball, straight racing and oval racing, scent hurdle, nose work. When not busy excelling at these sports, they are a fabulous companion and family pet
